Gulmarg Safe For Foreign Tourists

I'm considering a 3-4 day holiday to Gulmarg (to see snow, skiing) and would like people opinion if it would be safe.

I would be taking a taxi from Sringar airport to gulmar. Are taxi's easy to get at the airport? how long is the ride? what is the cost? Thanks.

You live in Mumbai & there had been blasts in mumbai too. So you know that no place can be declared SAFE anymore. Lots of tourist & holiday makers have thronged to Gulmarg so you can also go ahead.
Yes taxis are available from Srinagar airport. On your return leg do start for the airport early as the security drill takes a long time. When I had been to Kashmir the airlines didn't allow any cabin baggage.

I agree with jyoti...I think it is fine...you can come to Gulmarg. Just take care that you do not deviate to remote regions.

Should be no problem. I was there about 2 weeks ago and Gulmarg felt completely safe.

You should have no problem getting a taxi.
I am not sure about rates from the airport to Gulmarg but from Airport to Srinagar is 350Rs (10Rs by bus) and from Srinagar to Gulmarg is 1200Rs (return, but you will have to pay it all also if you do one way).

If you could take a bus or share jeep (sumo) from Srinagar it will be a lot cheaper (less than 100Rs).
