I tried to book the tickets online today for 7th April, website wasn't showing any options for booking tickets. I called there helpline only to know that their online booking is down for maintenance and will be available only from 20th April.

Apart from booking tickets from the counter the only other option is to book from Srinagar TRC. I would be travelling from Pahalgam to Gularg, Can somebody tell me if this route goes via Srinagar, if not how much of detour will I have to do to collect the tickets from Srinagar TRC.
Also how much time does it takes to get the tickets at the TRC counter.

thanks in advance.

Though I am not 100% sure but I think Pahalgam to Gulamrg is via Srinagar. Only problem here will be that you will have to enter the city and that could take time. Confirm with your driver/agent. Also it is better to take the tickets a day in advance, else you might not get it.
Overall its a bit tricky.

Getting tickets directly at the counter is just impossible, there is huge queue and chaos there.

Thanks Params.
This will add to my delay, not sure why it takes a month for maintenance of website. Given the nexus between touts and the officials, I smell rat in this month long maintenance window.

The OP is correct.

It is appearing on the website that "Online Booking not available from 28th March to 20th April, Due to Maintainence (sic)"

Please get double-checked, as the maintenance could be pertaining to the Gondola itself...

In Gulmarg

I have reached Gulmarg today inquired about Gondola and heard that it is operational. I also called their helpline and they confirmed it is working for both the phases.
Will go tomorrow and experience it. Unfortunately I dont have the tickets and have to haggle at the ticket counter tomorrow.

Completed the much awaited Gondola ride, was not so lucky to go to phase2 as it was closed when I booked the tickets.
After I spent a few hours on phase 1 they started Phase2. One cant buy Phase2 tickets in phase1 the only option is to come down and start all over. We had enough fun and snow at phase1 so did not opted for phase2.
It started to snow on phase2 and slowly at phase1 as well. There is lot of snow starting from the base of Gondola all the way up.
Today being Sunday they charged 100 rs more, so 300 rs tickets were sold for 400 rs officially. Their were only 10 folks ahead of me but it took 30 mins to buy the tickets and 1:30 to board the Gondola.
A small tip - While you are in the queue for the tickets you can ask other members to stand on the boarding queue. As usual touts had their own access and at times I got really angry but cant help it.
I also did Skiing with my family. so for 4 people and 2 guides and 2 bicycle ride I negotiated at 1200 buck, I could have negotiated further but dropped the idea as it was very cold.
We took the boots, cap and jacket on rent from Tanmarg and for 2 nights they charged me 1100 after negotiation.
I had fever in the night so wore 5 layers of clothing and then the rented jacket, at times I thought it is waste of energy to carry all this and was tired, but it helped tremendously after it started to snow.

If we are not doing skiing and only Gondolo, do we need boots and jackets? I am going to kashmir this wednesday.
Is it too cold in Gulmarg Now? what type of clothes do we need?
