Bus timing from jammu to srinagar

I'm planning to visit Srinagar this Monday on 21st may 2012.i know that there are shared taxis running for Srinagar but i want to know that if there is bus service for Srinagar from jammu and if yes.please do let me know the timings.I couldn't find any contact number for JKSRTC office.

the bus leaves early in the morning
from 6-8. they are very good in comfort especially the 21 seater bus. Lot of leg space, big seats which recline. But the only issue is getting a ticket as they are usually pre booked a night before which doenst mean that you won't be able to buy one in the morning. So go to SRTC office early which is next to train station ( walking distance) and try your luck.

p.s. they are the safest way to travel to kashmir as the drivers are very patient and they don't over speed or do any kind of reckless driving. Nothing as safe as JKSRTC bus.

Someone had given me the following two contact numbers for CONTROL ROOM OF JKSRTC both at Jammu as well as at Srinagar. I was told that in these numbers someone would respond to incoming calls and would guide the caller about timings, fare, nature of service etc. You may try these numbers. Ashishda, I was expecting you to call these numbers from your home and share the details on the Forum!

ha ha ha...I have been caught! I was merely trying to fire by keeping the gun on Kaunu's shoulders!
However, if somebody else does not try, I shall do it at a time when I will need it. I always keep it in mind that I must pay back to my forum as I am getting so much from it. Presently I am in the process of collecting all the relevant info pertaining to Kashmir trip, the next stage would be to collect feedback (directly by me or through someone in the Forum or elsewhere) and then only I shall be in a position to report back in IM. I appreciate your agility and attention to the forum posts. Thanks.

asishdas-I didn't try these number but now i can provide the information for the bus to Srinagar.The buses to Srinagar starts from dhak bangla (a place near ragunath mandir)The bus leaves 6.30am in morning and it can goes to even 7am but its best if you are present at 6am.Tickets on the spot is quite difficult so its better to book tickets in day advance.THE BUS TAKE 10 TO 11 HOURS TO REACH SRINAGAR.

Thank you very much for the info. Since we will be reaching Jammu a day earlier, there will be no problem on our part to book the tickets a day in advance. By the way, have you got any information from where the advance booking is done?

The booking office is right there from where the bus start (as i have mentioned above the place)from there only you can get the ticket.

Asishda, you may take a local city mini bus from railway station (which stops opposite to Vaishnavi Dham) and ask the conductor to drop you at Bus stand. Once you reach there, you may ask any body where is JKRTC Ticket counter. You may book your tickets from there.

Things are slowly but surely falling in places. As of now, my plan is: Jammu to Srinagar by first early morning JKRTC Bus, Srinagar-Gulmarg & back and Srinagar-Sonemarg & back by JKRTC Bus (Ticket from TRC), Pahelgam drop by JKRTC Bus and Srinagar local sight seeing by Auto, Dallake by Shikara, Pahelgam local sight seeing by local hired cab. Two areas which are bothering me are (1) accommodation at Srinagar as well as (2) at Pahelgam (These are required to be budget type as Prakaant had used last year). Any help in these two fronts, Guys ?

J&K TOURISM HOTEL IS THE BEST OPTION THE.IT'S IN THE LAL CHOWNK in Srinagar and you can check the room availability online.even there dormentry is pretty good.
