Head straight to Mughal Durbar. Try their kababs, gustaba, rista, yakhni and tabbac maaz.

Hotel Yemburzal in Gulmarg is fantastic, excellent waazwans, and its very close to the taxi stand. In Srinagar, many told me to try Mughal Durbar, alas I just didnt have the time... Hotel Paradise in Boulevard road, Srinagar is also good

Hi,
Other boarders have posted on Srinagar restaurants,so I am feeding info.for other places.THESE ARE VEGETARIAN places only.
At Gulmarg-if you are on a day trip-you hardly have any time for downtown hotels. So itwould be better to have something packed and handy from Srinagar.Or eat near the bus stand-where things are pretty basic. The cafeteria at Gondola is good but charges are double/triple.A cup of dispenser tea is Rs.20/-...!!!
At Sonmarg,Laxmi Vaishnu Dhaba( a comparatively good place -more like a restaurant)is a very good option.Just opposite bus stand there are three-four roadside eateries(dhabas) where food is cheap and less spicy, yet tasty.
At Pahalgam-the best is Nathu's,just near the Bus Stand.Though it is expensive and becomes really crowded near lunchtime.
The nearby Punjabi Rasoi is just O.K.-tastewise. The third option is Dana Paani-run by Sikh family where good veggy dishes and shakes/icecreams are offerred. This is in Main Bazzar, about 300 metres from the bus stand. Another good, cheap(but slightly compromised on upkeep)option is Hotel Poornima in Main Bazzar, near bus stand.
I found that for vegetarians -the choice of good eateries is limited, even in Srinagar.Hotel New Mamta (near Dal gate), Punjabi Rasoi(Boulevard Rd.,Opp.Dal lake)and Shah's (near Taxi stand, where ascent to Shankaracharya Temple starts) are just OK.Lal chowk has couple of upmarket places where Veg/Non-Veg dishes are served.

the MoMo at Lhasa restaurant in Srinagar kept us sane and alive whilst our flights out were cancelled for 3 days due to snow in January! each day was colder and sleetier than the last. each day we trudged out there to pre-order them in the afternoon for that night. each day we ordered more MoMo! we finally got onto a flight fortunately. as much as i loved the MoMo, enough was enough! the Lhasa is just near the shikara steps on Dal lake.
