Vaishali,
Patnitop is nearer to Jammu at 105 KM and Srinagar at 125 KM from Patnitop. While going from Jammu, you may stop at Patnitop on the way.
Sonmarg would be more scenic between Sonmarg and Patnitop

Bahu Fort & Bag e Bahu,Jammu
Kashmir has its charm in all the seasons. The splendid Winter, the wonder full Spring, the gorgeous Summer or the romantic Autumn. We opt for the Winter Kashmir….
Day -1(05/12/11)
It was a very long (38 hrs)train journey reaching Jammu on the third day. With a delay of 2 hrs we reached Jammu Tawi at 2.15 pm.
Later we went to the taxi stand, about 50 mts from the entrance of the station and took a taxi (Rs.250) for the Hotel Moti Mahal at GSS Rd. in the main town very close to Ragunath Tample. We were 2 adults with 2 children ( 12 and 9) shared a double bedded room with one extra bed(Rs.900+100 for extra bed).Moti Mahal a nice budget hotel for family stay. Room service and stuff were very supportive. The room was newly renovated.
After a long trip we were very tried. So,we headed to only Bahu Fort late evening. Bahu Fort is situated 5 kms away from the city centre. It is surrounded by a lash of green terraced garden, knows as Bag e Bahu. The view of the Jammu city light from the garden at night time was awesome….
We returned back to hotel early as we needed proper rest ahead of long drive further tour to Pahalgam next morning.

Nice start. Carry on please.
Day -2(06/12/11)
Jammu to Pahalgam (287 kms/9 hrs):
We woke up early in the morning and get ready by 8 am for the Pahalgam transfer. On the due time hotel boys informed us the driver has waiting for us .The trip (6 days+5 nights, Ex Jammu to Jammu)) was booked through a Srinagar based travel agent Green Kashmir Tours & Travels and we found a very good deal.We paid about only Rs.22000(With all tax, parking) after tour including Srinagar(3 nights) Pahalgam (1night) Patnitop(1 night) triple bedded deluxe accommodations with propane heating gadgets(Blower+Electric Blanket)and transportation for all disposal sightseeing with heated Tavera/Qualis without any meal(EP). Later we meet driver Ayaz Khan(Bunty) local Srinagar guy, said he would be along with us for 6 days with all new fully loaded Innova instead of Tavera/Qualis! Wow..What a great start !!
We proceed Pahalgam at 8.30 am and reached at around 5 pm after stopping in between for breakfast, lunch and tea breaks. The drive to Pahalgam through Jammu Srinagar highway (NH-1A) was thrilling experience. The scenery was unforeseen.

Bagliher Dam/Jawahar tunnel
On the way saw Bagliher Dam(Power Project) on the Chenab river. The view from here was spectacular. Later passed through Jawahar tunnel(2.5km long). Prior to the construction of these tunnel, to enter Kashmir through this route.People had to cross the Pir Panjal using a mountain Pass high up in the range. From here, the view of the Pir Panjal range was awesome!
