It would take at least around 20 to 22 hours to complete Jammu - Katra - Bhawan - Katra - Jammu route...

... that, too, if you do it non-stop!

can we treck without shoes... as for superstitions (this is what I am thinking) wearing shoes is good while going to see God.

is it possible atleast without shoes?

Yes, you can track Vaishno Devi route without shoes. Track is very fine and well maintained.You will find many people doing this.

It also depend on the rush at Bhawan. Last year in November, when rush was low,I completed Jammu - Katra - Bhawan - Bhairon- Katra - Jammu route...in just 16 hours. Jai Mata Di.

Just an addition...

... Whole route is paved with interlocked tiles Between Darshan Dyodhi and Bhawan. It is also kept very neat & clean. So, if wished it could be done very easily.
The time taken always depends on an individual capacity. I had given a general idea considering a normal person of plain!

I just finished my yatra on 18th July..about your question

ans: I would suggest not to do that, unless you are planning to go by PONY..since there are pebbles and ice too, which wil make it diificult for you to reach the gufa. However before the gufa, yatris are asked to deposit their shoes at the counter there after which there are small water taps where one can wash their hands after opening shoes.

Please never attempt barefooted yatra even if going by pony, as it may cause hypothermia due to low temperature.
