SCAM or a good travel agent?

Hi,
I just wrote an email to this tour agent from delhi. The website is http://www.tourmyindia.com
They are offering me USD275 + USD75 for a tour to the Golden triangle which includes all monument fees and 2-3 star hotel stay for 6 nights.

I find it quite reasonable but how do I know it is not any scam. I need to pay a deposit of USD100 by credit card.

Anyone ever tried this tour agent?

Sorry, I've never been on a tour.
Looks okay, but I'm always suspicious about sending money to people, any people, over the net.

If it is good, you can pay when you get there, and at the same time look around and get a better price maybe.
It's usually a bit cheaper when you are there, as opposed to "over the net".

Hi Isara,

I suggest that you check for the rates by calling them over phone as they might quote a different price at that time.

Going by what they are asking for, 350 USD equals to approx 16500 Rupees which is a decent money from the indian perspective. Going by the prevelant rates of hotels, I am sure they can take you through in this money. The only catch will be that they may put you in simple hotels and may ask for entrance fees on actuals.

well, they did mention that with USD75 added to the tour package (usd275), all the monuments fees are included.

I was thinking that it would be wiser to include the entrance fees. Because it might be more expensive if we get it ourselves. Those ticket sellers might just increase the price as they like.
I experience that in Bali. And it sure ruined my day.

The price definately looks to be ok if it includes the following

1. car charges including fuel, interstate taxes, road taxes plus parking

2. driver charges for overnight stops

3. 3 star hotel charges for all the 7days/ 6 night duration (ask if bfast is included..is shld be in my opinion)

4. monument charges including charges for 1 still camera- assuming that you are a foreigner monument charges will be high.

5. Check what hotels are they putting you up in Agra/Jaipur/Delhi and google search urself abt the hotels. If you not satisfied tell them to change.

6. ask for the complete itenary in written including the hotels, what car will they be using and when you completely satisfied then only pay an advance.

As for the travel agency is concerned you really cant tell from seeing one's website.

But all the best

When you hiring the taxi, any overnight stay apart from the home city from where the Taxi has been hired there is an additional overnight charge for the driver.

For e.g here in Jaipur if I go to Delhi and stay one night there, there will be an additional charge of Rs. 100/- for the driver.

Looks too good to be true. Room alone (well located, secure, with bath, AC) will cost at least Rs 1500/-or about $30 per day.

more from tourmyindia

Isara--did you go ahead with the tourmyindia deal? Just curious because I've also received a quote from them for a package in Ranthambore National Park. It was in response to a query I sent to www.ranthambhorenationalpark.c om, and the response came from this travel agency with a package for $125 per person for 2 nights at the Raj Palace, including 3 1/2 day tiger safaris for 2 people. Doesn't sound too bad, and we really want to have this all booked and confirmed before arrival because we are going at peak season (New Years). However, they want full payment now. Anyone else used "tourmyindia" lately?

not sure why they ask for full payment now, rather most of them just ask for least 20 % or 25 % of total amount and rest to be paid when start the tour. still 10 % when trip over. ask few more over pretty sure you have good deals and better way of payment.
