Loved the way you described Mumbai and Mumbaikars
vidyam cavidyam ca yastadvedobhayam saha |
avidyaya mrtyum tirtva vidyaya'mrtamasnute ||

Meaning:

One who knows the correct knowledge, and also criticizes false knowledge, for him, by criticism of false knowledge (which causes suffering), he overcomes suffering, and by practice of correct knowledge (which causes enjoyment), he obtains mukti.

English in Jaipur

Hi,
Your article is good but I am surprised that you could not get a English newspaper in Jaipur. Two leading newspapers (Times of India, DNA) have their Jaipur editions and apart from that you can take other newspapers also which are published from Delhi. Besides that all road signboards have English along with Hindi, I don't know why you are not able to find this.

I fully second Solanky's view!!!Must say candamaria is a Master storyteller but i am sorry to say Jaipur isn't at all like that.Your views probably are based on some bad experiences. You seem to have visited only touristy places(which are worlwide frequented by touts, crooks etc)of Jaipur & not seen real Jaipur.

Cool Viewing Taj Mahal

Dear CanadaMaria,
Enjoyed very much reading your article. About Taj Mahal, where exactly did you take your posted picture? Recently I read few travellers' stories about Taj Mahal and they all mentioned the best place to shoot photos is from the other side of the Yamuna river.

How did you get to the river banks in the morning? Did you walk through the Taj Mahal complex or walk around it? If I visit the Taj Mahal in the afternoon and again in the morning, I have to pay twice for the entrance fees which is quite a lot for foreigners $20 X 2. If I can do a morning walk along the river banks without going through the Taj Mahal complex which from all accounts is chaotic having to line up before 6:00am and fight your way through the gates with >100 other tourists, it will be much more enjoyable.

Hi !

It's a good travelogue...

But I do not agree with your view that Rajasthanis are arrogant & Aggressive Hindus and that they do not like Christians.....

Angry Decent travelogue

As a travelogue , this was OK and I think all the Hindu-Christian bias stuff is in your imagination. For most part, Hindus have nothing against Christians. Prejudice works both ways and for someone with Jaundice, the whole world looks yellow.

I was surprised about some of your comments on Jaipur...viz. hindu mentality and english freindliness.....just shows that one can't judge a place in few days and especailly when one goes as tourist?

I know for sure that Jaipur has few good english news papers with good circulation...did you check with your HOTEL? Also, I have stayed inJaipur for almost 23 years and know for sure that majority is not against any particular religion.

But, your comments about the touts...I tend to agree.
