Recommended driver in Jaipur

Hi,
I've just got back from my first trip to North India and I spent a few days in Jaipur along the way. The auto driver that was sent from the hotel was so personable, knowledgable and just downright friendly that I hired him over the next two days and promised I'd pass on his details to anyone who might be interested. He's 24yrs old and speaks excellent English and took me to some places around Jaipur I hadn't considered visiting but which turned out to be very worthwhile. To be honest, I did visit an upmarket carpet shop but it was all done with good humour - I made it clear I wasn't buying and there was no pressure whatsoever.
If anyone wants his local phone number send me a private message and I'll be happy to oblige.
Cheers,
Jeff

was it the guy from the pearl palace hotel, first name beginning with S?

That was someone we had, he was ok, but a bit too pushy on the shops etc, and tried to grievously overcharge us at the end of the couple of days

The joys of Indian travel

Hi,

I will be in Jaipur on the 14th, and I am interested in more information about your driver. Full day? Costs? Number?

Thanks!

Mods - is it OK if I post a contact number on here or is it frowned upon?

jhiker, can't work out how to send a PM - can you send to me?

I'll be in Jaipur around 20th, wouldn't mind the drivers details - thanks

No problem. His name is Ramzan and his mobile phone is 9828134195 - I'm pretty sure that's a '4' - looking at my scrawl it could be a '7' but I don't think so.
Anyway, I contacted him through the Madhuban hotel (which I heartily recommend, by the way).

I think I gave him 300 Rupees for several hours in the auto-rickshaw and we covered a fair bit of ground in and around Jaipur. He was a nice guy and, to be honest, I didn't haggle much (this time).

Good luck!

I think the PM function is not available...can't find the button! This might be going off topic here, but I'm wondering if jhiker you could list the places that you covered with Ramzan?

That'd be really helpful for haggling + itinerary planning!

Thank you very much for your info.

the PM facility doesn't become available until 10-14 days of membership (I think) has passed, and 15 posts have been put on the board. Unfortunate, but we had to take steps to stop the PM function from being abused ( some were just joining up and using the PM facility to target other members as if it were a dating site).
