I'd suggest Madhuban. It's a converted palace, very quiet, and not that far from the 'old city.' Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the restaurant is very good. (See under 'Hotels' on India Mike.)

pearl palace is a good hotel!

I stayed there and i loved it. Colourful and interesting decorations, spacious and homely. Very comfortable and helpful staff. Check out the rooftop too!
