Pearl Palace or Umaid Bhawan

I know they are different price ranges--will be our last two nights in India after a one month volunteer program. The pool at Umaid Bhawan looked enticing as did the room decor. But the posts I've read about Hotel Pearl Palace on this website are all outstanding.
Any opinions about Umaid Bhawan?

Pearl Palace

Great rooms, great place to meet people, and decent and hygenic restaurant (albeit slow service, though I've been in the kitchen - it's immaculate!). Go with Hotel Pearl Palace.

Pearl Palace All the Way!

What a delightful gem--
close to bus station--providing free transportation from bus station--this hotel was my favourite--
rooms are immaculate and tastefully appointed--unique, eccentric pieces of artwork abound.
the rooftop terrace restaurant is delightful. food is excellent and reasonably priced and candlelit evenings are a pleasureable way to spend the evening in Jaipur.
Can't recommend this hotel enough. The proprietor, Mr. Singh, is on hand at all times although in an unobtrusive way, and is constantly overseeing operations and making improvements. The staff was most helpful and accomodating.

Thumbs up Unmaid Bhawan

I stayed at The Unmaid Bhawan last November for a few nights.
It was lovely, with my own sweet balcony and lit up at night, was quite magical.
My room was very nice, as were everyone who was working there.
Internet connection was fine ..... which is often not the case in India.
Didn't use the pool, though it too was lit up ( so pretty ) at night.

Thank you for your reply. I ended up staying at the Hotel Pearl Palace and was very pleased. No pool, but Mr. Singh, the owner, goes out of his way to ensure the place is well taken care of. No detail is overlooked. The rooms were spacious, immaculate and nicely appointed. The rooftop terrace was a delightful place to spend breakfast, lunch or dinner. Dining at night at candlelit tables was romantic. Tasteful music and excellent food. All of the employees were helpful, polite and courteous.

I look forward to staying there when I return and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Jaipur.
