Mumbai to Jaipur RT by sleeper train?
Hi everyone,
sorry if this is a repeat question, please re-direct me to the correct thread if so. My husband and I want to travel by overnight train from Mumbai to Jaipur to maximize our time in Jaipur. I know there is the 2559 Bombay Superfast but I don't know how to tell if it's a sleeper train or not and what classes it has. Anyone have any idea of which A/C sleeper trains go to Jaipur from Mumbai and back? Also, how do I book tickets before leaving? (we have time - we're going in January...just planning ahead!) thanks! |

Go here for bookings...
Quote:
you can go to http://www.irctc.co.in/ and select the SLEEPER CLASS ticket options... Then select the cities you are traveling between and book online. GOOD LUCK!! |

You can book tickets for Jan only in Nov. Advance reservation is allowed for 90days. Also Sleeper , 3AC, 2AC are all Sleeper Berths. CC and 2S refer to the Seat berths.
You can also book railway tickets at makemytrip.com, cleartrip.com, yatra.com etc. They have a cleaner interface than IRCTC.com. |

Thank you for the informative replies everyone! I think we would prefer AC and privacy so our only option is the 1AC class IF we do travel by train. My husband's health can be an issue so ease and comfort in travel is a priority.
With his health in mind, I do have one more question: how does travel by train compare to travel by air in terms of service, comfort, available food? Or is there a particular train that is reputable in these elements? (I've heard the luxury trains of India are something one must experience but I do not know much about these trains and if they travel my route which is Mumbai to Jaipur, Jaipur to Delhi) The main benefit we see to train travel is that we can travel at night so we don't have to sacrifice our time in a city to move to the next city. Does this benefit really outweigh the other benefits that come with air travel (short flight, food quality, comfort etc). In your expert opinions, what do you suggest we do to make travel comfortable for my husband but efficient in travel? thanks again! |
