Jaipur to Kulu-Manali? Distance? how to travel?

Hello Everyone!

I will be visiting Jaipur around Jan 7th and have some time over the weekend (7th to 11th Jan).I want help in planning for a trip to some ski resort in Kulu/Manali (want to see the snow! And ski a bit too!)

Can anyone tell me how far is Kulu/Manali and Simla from Jaipur? How to get there? I reside down South in Coimbatore and plan to fly from here to Jaipur. Also options on how to get back on 11th to Coimbatore.

Haven't booked my travel yet and would like to know what are the best options. The Jaipur trip is mandatory.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there !

Jaipur to Manali would be around 820 km and it will take around 18-22 hours of travel. There are a lot of option from Jaipur to Delhi (train/bus) 5-6 hours and then from Delhi to Manali (bus) takes around 13-15 hours. Other option would be, try if you can get reservation in any train to Delhi, though buses are always available for Delhi (every 30 minutes).

From (ISBT Kashmiri Gate) Delhi, you may take HPTDC Delhi-manali Volvo AC or Non-AC buses in the evening or ordinary buses (mostly in afternoon/evening).

In Manali, you can goto Solang Nala area ( a lot of snow right now) and skiing going on. There are few other attractions also - Hadimba Temple, Vashishta (hot water springs), Naggar castel, Reorich Art Gallary (at Naggar).

A suggestive itinerary would be like this : Start from Jaipur in afternoon (around 1-2 PM), reach Delhi by 6-7.30 PM, take bus to manali and reach there in morning (8-10 AM), thus using the night for journey time. After reaching Manali, do book your return trip in advance to Delhi (it is advisable).

For any more specific infomation do write.

Happy Journey !!

Regarding Return Journey, suggest that you book Delhi-Coimbatore flight for 11th. Start on 10th afternoon from Manali and reach Delhi in morning of 11th.

Regarding Shimla, the travel time differnce is not much, it will just save 2 hours, but at Solang, you will get far more options of snow+skiing.

There used to be a Rajasthan Roadways Delux bus direct to Shimla from Jaipur. It was an extended overnighter taking about 16-17 hrs. But still the most convenient if you don't plan to stop anywhere on the route. Rajasthan Roadways website http://www.rsrtc.gov.in should have the current info.

But if want to goto Manali, then going via Shimla doesn't make sense.

Avidtrekker, thank you so much for all the information. It is excellent information and I guess all I have to do now is to book the tickets.

Mr.Rajeev thank you for replying. Yes, I think I will opt for Manali instead of Simla. Maybe will consider a trip to Simla sometime next year hopefully!

Thank you so much!!
