Jaipur to Jaisalmer
Can't seem to get any availability for the train to Jaisalmer on 1 March. Any ideas? Nothing left on the tourist quota either.

Have you tried Gandhinagar Jaipur (code GADJ) to Jaisalmer, GADJ is about 5kms from Jaipur, but the station uses the larger Delhi quota instead of the small Jaipur quota.
GADJ to JSM 3A has RAC 9 for today, this will probibly become confirmed. SL fas RAC 7 for tomorrow, this will definately become confirmed. Hold on, Sleeper Class has availability for today and tomorrow via the Foreign tourist quota, if you book this, do it from Jaipur to Jaisalmer. |

Hmm...painful.
Both are now not available. Say Available 0 ** but no RAC. Reservation office at Jaipur is shut because it's SUnday and the bookings office said to come back at 10pm. Otherwise there is a train to Bikaner at 4amish ![]() I think I'm going to have to book more trains in advance as this is a mare. Maybe it's because it's the weekend but I've never had to book a train anywhere on my travels more than 5 mins beforehand let alone 2 days ![]() |

It's really hard work trying to help you.
PLEASE explain where you are finding any info you get, because it makes no sense to me. Earlier you said that there was no availability and that all the tourist quota was gone, but it was still there when I checked. Now you say that a class is NOT AVAILABLE, but you wouldn't get that message, so do explain. If all the tourist quota was gone, you'd get the Not available message, but not with the general quota. ![]() I went to the Indian Rail website using your instructions and selected Foreign Tourist in the drop down meanu. It said none available. I went to the train station at 10pm anyway and the guiy behind the ticket desk confirmed it and said nothing was available. So, I got the bus this morning. Are you looking on the Indian Rail website as well... |

I tend to use http://erail.in/ these days, it's very accurate now and the owner is forever trying to improve the website.
The Indian Railway website I would use is http://www.indianrail.gov.in/inet_srcdest_names.html I think yesterday you were just asking too many questions without explaining anything, god alone knows what that code was and where you found it, but in the middle of it all you tell me you're going to the train station about a ticket at 22:00, after the advance booking reservation office is closed, know I think that maybe you were going to the current reservation window. I'm not sure what you understand or don't, but try to remember that you can book via the foreign tourist quota (if there's a FT window), and you can also use the general quota, or even the Tatkal quota if it's appropriate for that journey. BTW. I noticed on another thread that you'll be heading south, try to book your ticket to Mumbai and your ticket from Mumbai to Goa well in advance, they sell out. |

Anyway, done now. My biggest problem is that I don't travle on set dates, I have no idea how long I will be somewhere for so can't plan more than 1 or 2 days ahead. I suppose I could book up a few tickets but the cancellation fees will tot up. |
