Jaipur to Bikaner

I am planning a trip to India for the first time,in Feb.2009. My party of 4 is a young 70.It is an 18 day trip. We start in Delhi and then fly to Varanasi and back to Agra. Train to Jaipur.
MY QUESTION: IS THE THE LONG DRIVE IN AN A/C VAN TO BIKANER WORTH IT OR JUST SKIP IT AND GO ON TO JODOHUR??
MY COMPANIONS WANT TO SKIP IT BUT I THINK THERE IS VALUE TO THE TRIP FOR THE SITES AND THE CAMEL BREEDING FARM.
AM I BEING STUBBORN??

I enjoyed my short stay in Bikaner some years ago. The main attraction in the town, apart from the Camel Farm(which I missed), is the splendid fort/palace. The Karni Mata "Rat Temple" at Deshnok about 30 km south of Bikaner is famous outside India not only for its revered rats but for its fine marble carving.

If you are travelling by road to Bikaner from Jaipur you will pass through the Shekhawati region which has outstanding havelis at Fatehpur, a town on the highway. Mandawa to the east of Fatehpur has yet more fine havelis. Last year my intended excursion to Mandawi from Jaipur fell through but maybe I'll visit there some time.

Welcome to IM, JENKINTOWNCENNTRAL

It's totally worth it! I went 3 years ago, drove the backroads from Pushkar (near Jaipur) to Bikaner to see the camel festival I'm a big Bikaner fan. Camels galore, many kinds. Very friendly people.

Jodphur is a nice two night kind of place, the big attraction there is the Mehranghar Fort, well worth seeing.

How many days do you have to drive around Rajasthan? Where else were you going to go?

Are you stubborn? Hey, where are these friends? Have they registered at IM yet and started looking around? May-be you're just taking the lead at researching where you're all off to!
