An agent has booked us into a place called the Bella Casa Hotel for 4 nights -- never mind how this happened, it involves other people etc. When I look it up, I see it is .5 km from the airport.
Is there anything you'd call an attraction in that part of Jaipur? Market, palace, good place to eat? I am about to make phone calls to India all night every night until our trip if necessary to find somewhere else to stay, but if you happen to be able to answer this question, positively or negatively, you'll be helping me. Are you asking for recommendations for other hotels?
Budget, budget, budget. What else do you want from the hotel? Location? (central or quiet?)

Hello Neeli aakhen,
Was in Jaipur in August 2007. Airport is a distance away from the main city center and the tourist attractions. we stayed at the Arya niwas hotel ( you can find the details on the hotel listing on this site) I would recommed the hotel . The prices are reasonable and the rooms are really clean. The food in their selfservice cafeteria is good. we were there for 3 nights and rarely ate anywhere else. I googled your hotel and it says 5 min from the airport / 20 mins form the railway station. It looks very Posh. the tarriff on the website is high. wish you all the best with your trip mani |

Thanks for offers of suggestions, I'll welcome them - though also I have made lots of progress thanks to a recent thread on this forum about Jaipur, I went through all your recos and checked things out about them and I think I have a booking at the Nana Ki Haveli which I learned about here and which appeals to me a lot, looks/sounds lovely.
I have one more night in Jaipur to book -- we are thinking of leaving this one free space in our itinerary, we fly out of there to Varanasi after our fourth night. Here's a question - is there a place you recommend that is near the Jag Mandir (the famous movie theatre of Jaipur)? Because - the film Jodha Akbar, a lavish historical movie about Rajasthan history, is opening there on Feb 15, my last night there, and that might be just the thing to do!! (If there were rooms for rent in the movie theatre, I'd be in line to get me a pied-a-terre there.) And since I am being insane - price doesn't matter. |

!! for some reason I only now read this Bhim Vilas recommendation. Very nice for me that you really have an answer to my question.
I may really stay there - we booked Nana Ki Haveli for 3 of our 4 nights, and left one open for accident or inspiration - this may be it!! |

Check out a place called Rajdeep Hotel, in Farsoia Market, Bapu Bazaar. Talk to the Manager who will probably remember me from when I lived there in 1997 when I was on the Fulbright.
Just tell him Rajive Sada Anand reccommended the place. Very clean, cheap for extended stay, and cool in the Spring (I won't say summer! months). Nice to see you at the IAAC film festival with Salman Rushdie last year. R.

Thanks!! that suggestion goes with me to Jaipur.
And - yes, I liked running into you here in NY, and recognizing you from your IM photo -- and I'll recognize you next time too. |
