Hi Tasuray,
You can get a ticket for the RTDC organized tours from the Tourist Office at Governent Hostel. It is 10 minutes walk from Polo Victory. Not sure though if they will be open till 18:30. |

I visited Bikaner House a couple of months ago, and my accommodation in New Delhi was only a very short distance away. A taxi ride from the International Airport to my accommodation at the Golf Links area cost me 500 rupees at night on the first occassion and 450 daytime on the other. I am unsure what the cost by rickshaw would be, but have read charges of 250 to 300rupees mentioned. |

moving to Jaipur
Hi Lily
I am moving to Jaipur in September to stay with a friend who is working at a college there. I am hoping to do some voluntary work and she mentioned a charity called i-india. Do you know of them? Also, do you know what the ex-pat community is like there as I will be pretty much on my own as my friend works long hours and a six day week. It would be good to join a yoga class or something where I can meet other people. Any contacts or suggestions would be great and put my mind at ease!! Thanks ![]() |

A Delhi govenment booth at the airport suggested that we go to Dhaula Kuan instead of Bikaner House as it is much nearer and all the buses which starts from Bikaner house stops at Dhaula Kuan to pick up passengers. There were lots of buses for Jaipur which stops at Dhuala Kuan. We waited for around 30-45 min and then we took Volvo (Fare is around Rs. 450). For other buses fare is between Rs. 100-150 if I remember correctly. Only advantage of going to Bikaner house instead of Dhaula Kuan is that its a lot more peaceful place to board a bus. Dhaula kuan bus stop can get choatic and consfusing as so many buses keeps coming by. |

I guess you need not worry about all these things and simply take the taxi...about the charges...it would be a prepaid taxi and they are operated by Delhi police.. You simply go to the counter and tell them where you wanna go, they will take the money and give you a slip... take the first cab from the que, tell the driver where you want to go..and once you reach your destination handover the slip to the driver...don't give it to him before getting down the cab..as they get paid once they get the slip back to the Delhi police counter.. The its pre-paid and charge is fixed...I guess it would be below Rs.300.. |

If they would have been good I would have told you earlier as well... as a person local to Delhi, its still pain in butt to get an Auto at even around 11:30 PM from Delhi airport.. They ask for enormous charges.. And I guess they are not allowed near the exit terminals as well, you have to drag your luggage outside the airport are to spot one and after that process of haggling, fleecing starts... |
