If you're only there for 6 hours don't waste your time going into the Palace of the Winds; it's best seen from the outside. That should leave you time to see the other sites properly. Or take a bus or taxi to Amber.
Yes, there are some very nice places to eat in Jaipur, but with only 6 hours you're going to have to grab something from a stall. The station is quite a way away from the old town and the sights. |

i have heard it is difficult to get to the monkey temple, is that correct? how far is it from jaipur train station or the city centre?
(btw - jaipur fort should be 'amber' fort) |

Is Jaipur the only place in Rajasthan you're going to? There are other forts in Rajasthan, especially the Meheranghar Fort, in Jodhpur, which is IMHO, more worthwhile if you have limited time. I recommend the palace museum in Jaipur...fascinating place, even if "museums" aren't your passion. Lots of outside space, lots of good walking around, and can be done in a relatively short amount of time. They even have a very good buffet if you are there midday, with entertainment. Service is excellent, so you can get in and out relatively quickly. If it were my precious few hours, I'd hit the palace, then check out the Amber fort (if it were the ONLY fort I was going to see in Rajasthan) The fort is located away from the city center, and geting there and back to town will take away another 45 minutes, driving in a car. (not a bus or autorickshaw, which will really add on the time) |

If your hours are only between 10 and 4 then you definitely need a car to go to Amber Fort. It could take you up to 4 hours if you were using buses both ways. A really nice place for lunch is Anokhi's outdoor cafe - after going to the Palace take an autorickshaw there, it is near the Secretariat and most auto drivers will know it; other places are Niro's in MG Road, Handi Restaurants further down the road towards railway station. Also Barista's Coffee shop, opp. a cinema not far from Niro's.

The monkey temple or Galta is not worth the effort. The best way to cover Amer, City Palace, Hawa Mahal will be to take a taxi
