Jaipur hotel - Alsisar Haveli or Umaid Bhawan?
Jaipur hotel - Alsisar Haveli or Umaid Bhawan?
Looking for a heritage property for a family trip this Dec. We will have grandparents and young kids with us. I have two places shortlisted: Alsisar Haveli in MI Road area (renovated deluxe rooms) and Umaid Bhawan near Bani Park (royal deluxe rooms or royal suites with private balconies). How to decide? The fancier and more comfy we can get, while still convenient to the sights, probably the better. We plan to see City Palace, Hawa Mahal, and the Amber Fort, and also to do the LP old city walking tour.
I should also mention I love the look of Samode Haveli but it's not at all in the budget. We plan to splash out a bit, but not THAT much.

Umaid bhawan is not a true heritage hotel. I've visited Alsisar and though the entrance and surroundings outside the hotel are crowded - it's an oasis of calm inside. Others that you can include that score better overall are (in order) diggi palace, narayan niwas palace, nayla house.
Thanks for the quick reply! I found Naila Bagh Palace, is that the same thing as nayla house?
I am curious in what way the hotels you mention are scoring better. I was put off Narain Niwas from some bad reviews I saw on trip advisor. I did look at Diggi, but shortlisted the two I mentioned earlier just from the look of the pictures. I would love any more information you can provide as I know photos and reviews are only a piece of the overall.

Yes - Naila Bagh palace it is.
They score better because I've visited them earlier this year while looking for a good venue for my brother's wedding (we visited eight leading heritage hotels in the city and finally booked at Taj Jaimahal Palace -which is better than all the above but for your budget). My criteria were - location (how central), food, service (courteous), and above all, atmosphere.
We never went to Umaid bhawan because it's a modern hotel that is done in faux heritage style- there're dozens of those in the city ...
