Jaipur/Amer - can anyone name the building?
Jaipur/Amer - can anyone name the building?
Hi all
Can anyone name the temple/chattris in this photo (taken from a balloon.) Next trip to Jaipur, I intend to get a bit closer on foot to take photos. Location (using Google Maps): leaving Amber fort and heading along Amer Road. It's Between Amer Cimema Hall & Satyam Kung Garden.
I'd quite like to photograph that stepwell in photo #2 again too, from the ground
Cheers

This one has had me confused for a while now since I havent been to this specific monument except as a child. Given the location you've suggested, the cenotaphs are likely to include those of Mirza raja Jaisingh (or Jaisingh the first), Bhagwant Das and Mansingh the first. These are the oldest cenotaphs in the area (Those of Gaitore are newer and were built after Jaipur was established - Gaitor includes the cenotaph of Madhosingh) and possibly Ramsingh.
I was thinking for a while this is maharani ki chhattri (the queen's cenotaphs) but they are not. Those are a short distance from the Zoravar Singh gate (just after the turn of the ramgarh road from the amber road) and those are well worth a photograph as well.
Still cant place the second one, do you have a photo of the nearby area? Is there an old temple near that baodi (step well)?

the first picture is of the chatri"s located in amer, as you proceed from amer to delhi , on the right hand side u will see these before the Hotel KK royal Days.
Hi Vaibhav, Sanjay
I've attached a google map showing exact locations of the cenotaphs & baodi. Wish I'd snapped a few more photos Vaibhav but I was equally busy waving back to everyone on the ground. Will definitely take a tut tuk down this road (Amer Road that is) in November when I return to Jaipur.
And I really HATE all those photos on Google earth place marked in this area and showing nothing but the damn fort
