We will be arriving in Jaipur on Christmas Eve and staying until Dec 27th. I'm assuming there will be a lot of museums and attractions closed because its a hoilday. correct??
(We will be very dissappointed if we cannot take the elephant ride to the Amber Fort!!) Any fun suggestions for Christmas day and a nice dinner? I also haven't made a hotel reservation yet and would like some suggestions. My budget is about $200 per night but I would like one that is close to or in town and not far away. This will be our big splurge during our 2 week vacation in Rajasthan. Does anyone know where I can find any of this information? |

Since the main religion in india is hinduism it would make little sence that jaipur is closed on christmas.
Can't help you on the hotels though

However, the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday AND Christmas Day each year. It just so happens that Chistmas is also on a Friday this year. So i was wondering what other places may be on the same scheduling.

I never experienced any place/shop/restaurant/ tourist attraction being closed on Christmas day. It's business as usual. Most Indians aren't even aware that its Xmas.

all the Monuments remain open on Christmas!!!You can stay in Hotel Park Prime(located in the heart of the new Jaipur City) or else if you want experience Heritage Hotel then Samode Haveli(located in the Heart of Old Jaipur city) would be a good option.

Ok, good to know that. Only last Christmas, hardly any of the Indians and Tibetans I asked in Mcleodganj knew. Of course they knew what Christmas was, just they didn't know that it was Christmas day. So I thought must be the same all over India...

All the monuments are open in Jaipur on and around Christmas. And for your budget of around 200$, i.e. about 9000INR you can get a very good accomodation in Jaipur(I guess even a 5-Star). But I would suggest to make a reservation ASAP bcos I checked in a couple of good hotels a week back n they all were booked for Christmas and New year. SAurabh |
