Hi all,
Greetings for all of you.
I am planning to move to jaipur (from karnataka)to pursue research work in Manipal University located in Vatika Infotech City.
I had never been to jaipur before...but hope you people will guide me with enough information
I will really thankful to you people if you could provide me the following information at the earliest.
1. What is the probable cost of rest and deposit for a ONE bedroom house near Vatika Infotech City in jaipur
2. I have a kid of 5 year old. I need to take admission to him for UKG. Is there any good english medium school. If so what are there names?
3. What is the first language taught for kids in english medium schools?(for L KG)
4. Is there any kannada medium schools in jaipur?
5. Our family is addicted to take rice items in our food. Do we get rice to cook ? If yes are they costly over there? What is the rate of rice per kg in jaipur?
6. Is there any water scarcity in jaipur near Vatika Infotech City?
7. How is the weather in Jaipur? I am worried for my son..is it comfortable for him?
8. What is the approximate living cost we need to live there?(husband, wife and a son)
9. My wife completed B.Ed in hindi. Is there any possibilty of her getting a job in schools?
10. which is the language used in Jaipur city? We do know HINDI language. Do we feel comfortable over there?
Hope I will get the information soon....

I'm trying to answer a few questions here - please bear in mind that Infotech city is quite far off from the main city of Jaipur. It's on Ajmer road near Mahindra SEZ. Last I visited the SEZ was about 6 months ago and that itself had a lot of barren land.
hope this helps.

You should get something as low as INR 6000. Pls bear in mind that most of apartments in that area are new. So it would probably make more sense to live in an area closer to the city like Vaishali Nagar, Chitrakoot or Shyam Nagar, if its affordable to you.

DPS, Neerja Modi international and many other schools are there. I'm not an expert in this field though. Hopefully someone else will come along on this.

Not clear.

I really doubt it.

Yes you would. However, we eat a different grain of rice (longer). A few visitors from the south have told me on several occasions that it's a harder grain too and they wouldn't be able to eat it on a daily basis. Thick grain rice is Rs 25/- per kg and upwards, finer basmati is anything between Rs 45/- to Rs 120/- per kg that most locals would eat.

That area is actually better off. However, on the whole, you cannot compare Jaipur with a place like Bangalore or Mangalore where water is abundant. Growing up, in a prime colony we used to get water only morning and evening for half hour each. Now, it has improved considerably. In that area, since population pressure is low, it should be a better situation. In case of acute shortage, tankers of water for about Rs 200/- should be available.

Bangalore weather was much milder than Jaipur. I've been only once to Mangalore so not a fair comparison. Jaipur is harsh sun, dry weather. Summers are bad, winters are good. Pls check other sites and draw your own inference.

Rent will be your biggest expense and school fees perhaps second, commute would be third.

I cant comment on the specific skill set but primary education is a booming industry.

If you know hindi, you'd be just fine. I've even known several international students who know only english and are doing just fine! hope this helps.
