Thumbs up

We're booked in at the Pearl Palace for Dec. 26th & 27th in Jaipur. Haven't stayed there before but from all the reviews on TripAdvisor, it is highly recommended.

Shifli is right, the trip advisor reviews are excellent!
I have booked for five nights for March on the basis of these reviews, check them out!
There are lots of pics on the reviews so it will give you some idea of what its like.

They are very popular so I hope you have booked well ahead and please be sure to confirm your room when you arrive in the country.

Happy travels.

If you put in 'Pearl Palace' I think you will come up with quite a number of posts in favour of this hotel. I have stayed there a couple of times and really liked it.

I really liked it too when I was there. Theres also a hotel across the road from it that's supposed to be just as good, but I can't remember the name!

What about in Udaipur?? I've got 2 nights booked at the Mewar Haveli (again highly recommended)and then for the 3rd night wanted accommodation at the Amet Haveli but they haven't responded to my several email attempts. Any info on Mewar Haveli type (accommodation/cost) hotels that we can stay in for our 3rd night in Udaipur? The Mewar is fully booked for our 3rd night in Udaipur which is why we have to switch.

Two years back I also wanted to stay in hotel Pearl Palace in Jaipur because of the good reviews. We had made bookings but when we arrived the hotel was full. The owner said he didn't have our bookings so we shouldn't complain. When we showed Mr Singh the print outs of our booking confirmation he just said there must have happened a mistake. Yeah right.

Sorry you had to go thru that.....I've made it a point to print copies of all of our email communication as confirmation. If need be, I'll have it all ready for arrival there.

Shifli - I don't know about Mewar Haveli but some members have been recommending it. Their website makes it look quite good.

We are already booked into the Mewar Haveli....ideally, I would have wanted our 3rd night there too however, they are full for that 3rd night. I'm stuck for that 3rd night----no response from Amet haveli.

Spike,

"Full is full"......ridiculous for them to put you in that position. I guess we could have a heated exchange if it comes down to that....my husband and our 2 children standing there however, we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

Ridiculous indeed. He did offer us a room for the next day but we just walked away to another place. We ended up staying in the Devi Niwas guesthouse wich turned out to be a good place with a nice courtyard, good food and campfire at night.

We stayed at Pearl Palace for two nights (it was meant to be three but they stuffed the booking).

The rooms are fine, the restaurant good(albiet a little dirty), but we had some serious issues with management.

Firstly the booking stuff up, which they made no appologies for and in the end we had to go somewhere else (Arya Niwas - Good service btw, much friendlier than PP).

Second, our washing returned with several items stained with bleach, rendering them unwearable anywhere outside of India.
Now I understand this is not the hotels fault but we had to endure a ridiculous battle - which for some unknown reason involved the washer coming to our room to tell us that he knew about the ruined clothes and then leave - just to avoid paying for the bill. At the end of all this he offered a "discount" to which we simply said we are not paying. All through this no appologies. Then when it comes to paying for the room he is making sure every rupee is charged. He even chased us as we were getting into our taxi for a phone call he forgot to charge us for. Given the number of clothes we had ruined, this was very frustrating. I felt like giving him the bill for the clothes.

Anyway, that is enough for now - just be wary there, I think the LP pick they have recently got has gone staight to their head.

Pearl Palace has been highly rated in LP for a long time now. It is my personal experience that stay and dining options picked up from the LP invariably fail to live up to the expected standard.
