Funny Jaipur Story
Funny Jaipur Story
I traveled around India for 3 weeks many years ago. I took the train from Delhi to Jaipur and seemed to be the only tourist on the train as it stopped at Jaipur. I was immediately set upon by at least 10 taxi drivers. A policeman finally came to my rescue swinging his lathi (big stick). I picked my driver and got in the taxi to my hotel. On the way he tried to sell me a tour of the city (something I had no interest in) and told me he would be my driver for the next few days. Dropping me off at my hotel he told me he would wait outside and refused to take the fare. I showered and took lunch and noticed he was still parked outside the hotel. I snuck out the back door and returned 8 hours later to find him still parked there! He was very annoyed and asked me where I had been as he had been waiting for me all day!

Welcome to IndiaMike, jsdhaliwal!
I found it funny.
When I was in Khajuraho, the autorickshaw driver my friend and I had hired parked outside the hotel and didn't leave to take any other fares. It was kind of nice to have a ride ready to go, but as my friend said, "He's there. He's always there." Maybe it's just my sense of humor that made that funny to me, though.

I also thought it was funny, but in a sweet kind of way. I know how irritating these drivers can be ... but this story also shows how desperate they are to make a living ... how human they are. Hard to explain my thoughts exactly.
Hahahahahaha! It Happens :P
Getting irritated in India
I think if you let the little things in India wind you up you'll make a mess of your trip. I have done it. Got annoyed, irritated, wound up - but at the same time I understand the majority only want to make a living. For every person who has tried to rip me off in India there's been someone who has helped, gone out of their way.
and this thing is true specifically for jaipur. i mean who gives a darn where you want to go, and for what. but the moment a foreign tourist stops by to ask for directions to a particular place, people not only pause whatever they are doing but also take time using long sentences to make him/her understand the route. and they make sure that the person nods YES, i understood !
Thats Jaipur.

Thats Jaipur.
