Elephants in Jaipur
I have read/heard that it's common, in Jaipur, to go on an elephant ride. Does anyone have any information regarding this?
Where are these elephant rides and is it something that I book in advance? Also, I have about two days in Jaipur in early Jan.- should I tour by myself (with a friend) or should we book some sort of organized tour? Thanks! |

You can take an elephant ride up to the Amber fort (6-7 miles outside Jaipur). There may be other places to catch a 'ride' .... but that's the most famous. I think it's about 500 rps(up to 4 passengers) to go up the hill on/in a very rigid howdah.
