Bus Jaipur->Jaisalmer
Bus Jaipur->Jaisalmer
Hi everyone,
Sorry if this question has been asked before, had a look around and can't seem to find the answer..
I have a waitlisted ticket for the train from Jaipur to Jaisalmer but just in case, I was wanting to find out about getting a bus from Jaipur to Jaisalmer. I've read somewhere that there is one daily, does anybody know what time?
Thanks a lot.

If you want something more certain than your waitlisted ticket (Train 14659 1AC on 29th July?) there are berths in 2AC and 3AC available as part of the Foreign Tourist Quota on that train.
You have to book these in person at one of the international counters in India. You should be able to book this in Jaipur. Don't cancel your WL ticket until you have a confirmed reservation for your journey.

The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

The daily Volvo bus leaves at 23:59 according to this site. Not much different from the train time.https://www.rsrtcors.co.in/

While I do not disagree with the previous poster as to the feasibility of the via jodhpur route, there're a couple qualifiers:
a) There's no need to go unless you have to - you can always cut through nagaur as it's a shorter route.
b) The private buses in the state of Rajasthan are a disaster more often than not. The RSRTC buses, though typically more expensive are almost always on time, do not care if there's a passenger inside or not (no annoying last minute delays or unscheduled stops enroute to pick up passengers) and are in a better state of repair.
The link given by oceang is correct - you may use that to check schedule/ availability or walk over to Sindhi camp bus stand / Lalniwas bus stand and ask. The rsrtc website doesnt accept foreign credit cards so best would be to book as early as you can (upto a month in advance is permitted from the electronic reservation counters). Its a long ride but the best bus you can get for your money in these parts.
If you choose to take the train, there's another trick - you can try GADJ as the starting station instead of JPR (that's gandhi nagar jaipur and has a separate quota - its only 5 kms away from the main station though!).
I'd listen to Dave's advice on FTQ as you're eligible and it's much better to take the train on this route.
good luck with your travels!

thanks everyone for all the responses! can you buy tickets at Delhi station for the whole of India, or just for trains actually departing from Delhi? Will try and get a tourist quota ticket then if not brave the bus. Also that website is very useful!

RoseThe International Bureau at NDLS (New Delhi Railway Station) can supply FTQ tickets for anywhere in India (as long as there is an FTQ allocation and it has not sold out). It is upstairs on the Paharganj side of the station. Beware of touts who might try to tell you it has closed, moved or is on fire.
You can make your trains ticket at Delhi station for whole of India trains not only trains departing from Delhi.

The best buses are RSRTC. You'd do well to locate one of the lokamitra kiosks and book from there? Advance booking is permitted upto a month in advance. Are you in Jaipur yet? No, I am going in november to india and i want to book in advance via internet because i only stay two days in jaipur and i dont know if i will get free sleeper bus seats when i book only two days before the trip.
