I don't know if tourists are leaving Jaipur, but I presume that they are.
The fire has been burning for 5 days now and 600 cr worth of fuel has been burnt. Acid rain is also predicted. There are many places to explore in India. I would suggest avoid Jaipur for now till the situation improves. |

That's not true..in fact i have seen a surge in numbers in past one week.As for the fire & pollution, it has not really increased the temperature(maybe 1 or 2 degrees).Maybe in the areas in the vicinity of the oil depot, the situation is bad but that area is atleast 25 odd km from the main city & other popular tourist places!!!I feel you should come!!!

I'm inclined to agree with seasahil - and after all he is living in Jaipur. There is nothing to date in the newspaper re heavy pollution as a result of the fire, although with the continuing burning I guess around the immediate vicinity there would be.
I am guessing the increase in tourist numbers would be from tourists returning from the Pushkar camel fair. Are you actually here in India now James, and thinking of going to Jaipur? If I were you, I wouldn't be changing my plans.

I'd third that. I was in the vicinity. If you are close to that area (~5-7km), you can still see the residual smoke.
But otherwise, it is not something you'd bother about

I was there on 2nd Nov - about 8km from the site. Had no issues whatsoever. Please be more specific in the timing and content of your recommendation
