Any Luggage Storage at Jaipur Railway Station?
Hi,
I'm travelling with a group of friends to Jaipur by train. We are only going to be spending 1 day in Jaipur. Is it possible to leave our luggage at the train station while we visit the city? Is there a Left luggage counter there? Best Regards, Michael |

Can't guarantee you, but at a large station like that, sure, there should be.
Ask for the "cloak room" as it's called. Ask them about their opening hours, they will likely take breaks now and then. Your gear needs to be locked or it won't (technically) be accepted. (It's presumably to stop you from whining anything was taken from it later.) This can be a hassle with backpacks; wrap up all the flaps and whatnot in a light chain & padlock (easily bought on the spot). Zippers can likewise be locked with small padlocks; external pouches should be OK if they're empty (except a backpack again may consist of so many odds and ends that you'll really want, and notably be required, to wrap it up in a chain to sort of tie it all together). It's otherwise a cheap and safe deal (usually manned, or locked when no one's around), and perfect for brief stopovers or dashes into a given town indeed (also great for looking for a hotel unencumbered by luggage & not looking like a fresh arrival ready to be fleeced. If the station isn't way out of town, look for a room, then pick up your gear later.) To others btw: The cloak room is technically available only to people holding a valid train ticket. This may or may not be enforced; out of sheer courtesy, a foreigner may or may not have some extra leeway here. I hear there may be lockers these days at some major stations, can't tell you about it. btw Just to duly cross-link, there was a simultaneous question on it now where I left a detail or two more on how to wrap up a backpack: Agra Fort cloakroom: Locks on backpacks?

And they have to sight a ticket of some description before you can dump luggage there.
