travel buddies, 5 weeks in India :)

Hi there,
I am new here,
I will be in Delhi in January 1 but it would be nice to celebrate New Year's day there specially in GOA so maybe I'll be there at the end of december, I am traveling on my own. It´d be nice to have someone to travel with...

I will be there 5 weeks but I don't have any plan yet, this is my first trip to India and I would like you to recommend me places to visit. I feel like going to Goa, Agra, Mumbai, and Delhi but someone reccomended me to visit Rajasthan, Kerela, and Himachal.

Any suggestions? Someone traveling to India in January?

Cynthia

Cynthia:
India is a very large country with varied climates, topography, customs, languages history etc. Where you go depends greatly on what sort of things you like to see or do.
Your question reminds me of the following conversation between Alice and the Cat in Lewis Carroll's Alice in wonderland

Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to
Alice: I don't much care where.
The Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go.
Alice: …so long as I get somewhere.
The Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.

Goa is for fun, being a beach bum, boozing, drinking, lazing and generally being a hippie in today's hectic world.

Agra of course is Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri. Excellent architecture and history

Mumbai is the financial hub of India. It pays about 1/3 of India's income tax! Some beautiful architecture built by the British. A very large sprawling city with extremes. Wealth and poverty, skyscrapers with slums, the wealthy along with the homeless. Read the book Shantaram
Delhi: India's capital, lot of history, a lot of government
Rajathan: History, desert, camels, colorful , forts, sand and something quite unique. I would vote for Rajasthan
Kerala: Lush green, water, beauty, my vote again
Himachal: Mountains, cold in january, beautiful

What are your interests? Sight seeing, hiking, swimming, beach bumming, business, education, volunteering etc? I am sure folks on this site have seen and done it all. You will get plenty of good advice to suit your tastes
