I knew it would happen somewhere...
There are no photos of this event, but I was just about to leave the cybercafe in Puri on Christmas Eve when someone walked up to me and said: "Aren't you WonderwomanUSA?" It was Isabelle (who has just uploaded a couple of wonderful photos) -- who recognized me from other photos posted here! |

With my wife Urmila at Palchan village near Manali in March 1995.
It had snowed at Manali the previous evening.

Here I am with Bapu the boy camel, sad to say we are no longer friends after 3 days on the dessert. I thought we would bond during this trip. Anyway, Bapu, if you are reading this: YOU GAVE ME BLISTERS! I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN.
p.s... this pic was taken during our happier times. |

However, Sunday morning, while getting coffee, the very first tourist that I spoke to turned out to be member Karaokemonk. I almost fell out of my chair when talking to him. I asked how did you find out about this hotel and he replied that he was doing research on the internet and found the info at indiamike.com. I just blurted out "hey that's me". Kinda blows me away that the very first foreigner I speak with knows of this site. I am still blown away by that and thinks it's damn cool. (kinda wished I had showered and hadn't been wearing the same clothes for the last few days and would have made a better impression) Mike |

Great story, Mike and I hope you'll be meeting many more folks who know "IndiaMike-the website."
BTW, are you running into many Americans? I only met 12 in the three months I was there -- but then, I didn't go to "touristy" places.

Apologies for digressing from the original post:
Hopefully one day the events like 'indiamike tours' as proposed in some other thread on this website will become a reality and bring Mike some riches for all his hardwork and dedication. It is only fair Karma that he can retire securely for all his toils. |
