telephone from India to USA?

I will be spending about 3 weeks in India next month (coming from Washington DC) and need to stay in touch with the relatives at home. Aside from a few days in Delhi, most of the time will be spent visiting the gardens and palaces in Rajasthan. What is the best way to make calls home? Many thanks for advice on this.

Here is some info in this thread abt your question.

International phone cards? you have a system at your place you can use Google talk voice chat or Yahoo messenger voice chat.If not ,you can buy one of the calling cards mentioned in that thread.

There are public telephone offices all over India. They are denoted by a yellow building/sign that says std/pco.

Should cost you around 7-10 rupees a minute.

If the relatives are computer savvy many onf the numerous cybercafes offer skype or VOIP to talk via the computer!!

Yahoo voice chat is available at many internet cafes across the country. Sify i-way chain of net cafes has telephone booths that are operated using internet protocol, so the calling rates are cheaper.
