Taking a gamble on India
Hi everyone,
I'd like to introduce myself and say just how glad I am to have stumbled across this goldmine of interesting advice, people and anecdotes. I graduated this summer (History) and have since been just about making a living as a professional online poker player. I'm actually only half-English and in need of a break from England. Thankfully I'm half-Indian too Having inadvertantly neglected this part of my heritage for far too long, where I had to go was never in any doubt.Instead of sitting around in a dismal English city dreaming of travelling round India, I've decided to up sticks to Goa to dream about travelling round India. Armed with my laptop and a phoneline I'm going to base myself there and make the money that will hopefully enable me to backpack around India in unplanned (bar the train tickets) 2-4 week installments. I guess this isn't much different to normal travel, but instead of returning to England after each trip, I'm going to be returning to India ![]() Although as a poker player I shouldn't believe in it - wish me luck I look forward to getting to know the people on here and hopefully meeting many of you.Ade |

I always wondered how one can become a professional online poker player .. I mean. It lacks the psychological part of the game - reading the others minds - isnt it ?

Quite the opposite - the art of reading minds via the internet is alive and well
The physical element of actually 'reading' people is missing, but contrary to popular belief, that's only a relatively minor factor in any given poker decision.I have to say my game has suffered lately as I've been too busy reading things like this forum and planning flights/accom at the same time In fact, the more of this forum I read the more I'm considering forgetting basing myself somewhere and just winging it.Last edited by 50sQuiff : Dec 20th, 2004 at 01:37. |

Hello!
Now, how much am I prepared to bet that you're not actually an online poker player ![]() It sounds like a great way to make a living, given the right skills ---which, you will observe, I lack completley ![]()

it's actually an incredibly boring way to make a living but there are benefits - namely the flexibility! I'm hoping to play on the road as it were.
Here's a screenshot of me playing 8 tables at once: http://www.quiff.dsl.pipex.com/8tabling.jpg I usually play 4 and have my browser on the other half of the screen. |
