Real India expert

I thought my title might draw some interest. I am 30, live in the USA and love to travel. I have hopped around the site for some time now, visited southern India last Oct., and decided there is not enough hours in the day to become an India expert. Everyone's experience is different, and that is what makes this site a great read. I think we can all agree, there is nothing else quiet like it. Unfortunately, my stay was not as long as I would have liked. A great friend in Mysore was able to be with us the entire stay, so I got to see and do quiet a bit. I also got to spend some time at his family's home south (at least I think it was south, we just went where he took us) of Mysore, near ooty. We ended our trip in Chennai. Did not spend much time there though. It was my estimation that some of the Americans my friend had known were altogether more finicky and more fragile natured than I. I had to reassure him several times, that when I needed to pee I did not care if it was in a "real" Indian toilet or on a western throne! I am planning on returning this fall and getting on here makes it feel closer! well it was nice chatting.Bye for now!

They beauty of india ... is that even the 'bushes' / 'behind a car door' can suffice.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip!

Welcome to IM, and nice introduction. I agree - no matter how long the visit there never seems to be enough time.

happy travels

Welcome luv2go! Nice reading about your visit - I loved Mysore, and the areas around Ooty are very calm and relaxing. Enjoy your next trip later this year.

Hi Luv2go - welcome to Indiamike

Funny how hosts take into considerations our needs in very intimate ways - the timeless Throne vs Squat dilemna! What's a host to do?

Looking forward to hearing more as you plan your next adventure.
