G'day to everyone,
I am arriving in Goa in mid July 08 to do some voluntary work at the Mango House in Mapusa. I feel both extremely excited and anxious about the prospect of living and working in India. "Good on everyone" for all their contributions to this forum as the information available is priceless to newcomers. Having said that, I still haven't quite unravelled the mysteries of the Indian Railway timetable....... and may have to ask for help, at some stage in the future, to discover the rail connections between Bangalore and Goa. If there are other lost souls roaming the streets of Goa during the monsoon, it would be great to meet you for a drink/meal and share your experiences. IndiaMike has become part of my daily ritual here in Oz....I am firmly hooked and feel like I already know a little part of India. Again, thanks for such a great site. Johnno. |

Hi Johnno - and welcome to IM. Glad you've found the site useful, and for all those other questions (like the trains) don't hesitate to ask.
happy travels ![]()

Hi Vandy,
would be pleased to take anything to Mango House for you, assuming it will fit in a backpack. Have you done some work with Rob at CWT?I live in Safety Bay and leaving July 7.....maybe we could meet up beforehand? Johnno. |

Great photo Vandy....that must raise a few eyebrows in Goa!!!!! Not sure I'm going to have room for a Dockers flag in my backpack; I must just take my Docker undies and then if they continue to lose, no-one will be any the wiser.
If you want to make a monetary donation to ChildrenWalkingTall, there is a link on their website enabling you to do just that. For anything else, I can take it as long as I have room in the backpack. Johnno. |

Well, the monsoon just started a few days ago and will go on for months until August or mid-September. Last year we had rains until end October, so Ozzie has plenty of time to come.

Hi Birds,
would be great to meet up with you and have a drink. I don't know where I will be staying yet, but hope to start at Mango House by July 15th. I will contact you sometime after that when I am settled in Goa. See you later, Johnno. |
