| Ooops Well this is certainly a reason to scroll down the whole of the forums. Have already embarrassed myself on the visa forum and asked a few questions on the Uttarkhand board, but better late than never! Hello IM! My name is James and I live in the west of the UK, and because I dislike the farmer accent so, over the three years of university I subliminally picked up a very weird accent. I'm now asked by strangers just down the road from me if I'm American, Irish, Australian and once South African. Score! I never took a gap year before Uni (in fact I didn't really understand the concept), but now that I've been out of Uni for a year, working, saving and living with the parents (living the dream I should say) I am ready to take a gap-career. My ticket is booked for mid May, I have up to a year to return, and right now basically getup-work-reading threads in anticipation of that point. The only other places I've been are Libya twice with a friend and token European holidays with aforementioned dream parents. I studied philosophy, have dysthymia and suspect they may be linked. My political views are misanthropic (but I'm a very liberal misanthrope), I believe myself to be quite religious though I follow no organised (or disorganised) religion and I also use far too many brackets when witting (as you may have noticed). Good to finally introduce myself.

| Mostly going to focus on Uttarkhand (with some Himachal Pradesh [and when I've had my fill of mountains might head south to Tamil Nadu]). I'm looking for part Yoga, part solitude in beautiful foothills and part whatever comes (with more than a little Chillum indulgence )Places I've marked in Google Earth, in no particular order Rishikesh Kausani Harshil Uttarkashi Rudraprayag Jageshwar Uttarkashi Bhagirathi Valley Sanglas Vallet Manali Dharamasla I need to flesh this out with some more places in the south (i'm very vague about where to go there now) and possibly the east (looking into Darjeeling and other places). But the north is first, and everything else depends on how long my money lasts (and how I find the monsoon) |
