OOHMYGOD Did dhe say she was visiting Chennai? and in August? Shhhhhhh..... ![]() I jest. Scaryest thing about this city is that you might end up deciding to live here! Long before my first trip to India, people were advising, make Madras, rather than the other big cities, your India introduction: you'll find it easier to cope with. Well, I still haven't tried the other cities! It seems to be cooling down a bit at last, and you might even be lucky enough to get some rain ![]()

Hey: Welcome to IM. Just make sure you get the basics before visiting the town. Its a great place and like nick said, you mite get hooked. First and foremost, your travel. If you are not careful, the auto/cycle rickshaws (one of the local transport) guys will charge you to the moon and back. Get your immunizations. Depending on how long your stay will last, check for accomodation. Im sure some of the guyz here wud help you out with that or are you visiting on work? Have a pleasant stay while in here. I love that place, since thatz my dad's hometown. -pat-

ooh! thank you all for the warm welcome i'm keeping my fingers crossed that i would indeed fall in love with the place and not ever wanna leave :P i'm there to visit my friend, and while i would be doing some of the touristy stuff, my aim is to see if it's some place i would relocate to. Accomodations are taken care of, and if i'm lucky, my friend will lend me his car + chauffer :P else, there's always the fun of learning to navigate the city with trusty lonely planet. thanks for all the tips, will definitely take note!

You can best learn to navigate the city with an Eicher City Map! Great if you have free use of a car, but try and get out on foot and take autos to get the real flavour of the city...
