Question newbie

Hello people!

I am hoping this site will help in my future travel plans to India! My circumstances will be a little different than most travelers. My husband is Indian and I will be going there for the first time to meet his family. We have been married a year and are trying to save up vacation time and money to go. We were going to go in December but he got a new job so the vacation time is gone and we have to regain it. I've been doing SO much research that he says I probably know more about India then he does . It is a little joke between us. Anyway ... nice to be here!

Hi Lokie and welcome to indiamike.com

A little something to consider.

I speak to lots of NRI's in England, virtually all of them are jealous of me travelling around India, yet most have been to India a few times.

They say that when they go, they get stuck with their resident families, they enjoy their time but feel they would be betraying their families if they were to spend time away from them in India.

I don't know what you and your husband’s plan is, but this could be worth discussing now.

ditto that, Steven
also, there seems to be a common thread that returning to India, one is considered sort of a parcel service, and is required to bring no end of Western stuff. Nowadays, most of it is available in India anyway. I don't know if this has arisen for you, but just a heads up.
