New to this whole thing!

Hi, my name is Tina and my husband and I will be moving to Chennai by the beginning of 2009. I really don't have any clue as to what is needed or what I am to look forward to. There is a lot of anxiety that goes along with apartment hunting, knowing the language, dress code, ect.... Could you please give me any useful information to get me started?

Hi, and welcome to IndiaMike.

Don't panic, and suggest you start browsing through the Moving to Chennai sub-forum to find many questions already answered. The various Expats forums, including for other cities, will also address more general but similar queries. The India For Beginners forum will also likely have something for you. Heck, in general: Just browse around the site! (The Chennai and Tamil Nadu forums may also hold something for you, just for instance. Find the whole forums structure here: http://www.indiamike.com/india/. Use also the site's Search functions.)

Maybe if a moderator notices this query they want to move it to the Moving to Chennai forum, as it will hopefully get the better attention there. Please don't double-post your query there after this comment, as it can only lead to confusion with people trying to address you on different threads.

In general though, rest assured people are here to address your worries. So read around some for what's already there, and don't hesitate to ask anything that's unclear to you
