New in Delhi

Hi IMer's,

I just moved to Delhi and will be here for the next few months for work. I came from Toronto, Canada and am a female in my late 20's of indian origin. I'd like to spend my free time here visiting surrounding places which can be visited on a weekend or long weekend. I'm very interested in visiting Rishikesh,Haridwar, Dharmashala, Shimla, Manali. I'm also interested in going to some yoga retreats for a day or two in and around delhi.

It would be great to find some female travel partners for making some of these trips. I'd like to go any of the weekend coming up in October 2009.

I feel we are very unfortunate of having blessed to be here in such a rich country full of diversity and not being able to explore our own land .... various reasons.... you just feel like running thru your life... for all those material gains... of late i have always been thinking of packing my bag for good and explore the wonderful nature and places, let me know if your group is planning travel in the coming days towards north and east of the country, would be glad to join your travel group...

Welcome to Indiamike. You have come here at the right time and you will have a great time visiting all the places you have mentioned. Most of them can be done over weekends easily.

If you need any tips on what to do or see at those places please feel free to ask.

How is it to be in India..it must be a huge culture shock from Canada, I guess?
