@Gopinahtan; there are lots of factors that needs to be taken into account while deciding on place. Besides duration & liking; budget is also important. A trip to Madives could cost a couple close to 100 Thousand rupees where as can be done in 50-60K in Sikkim and at a much lower cost if you have Northern hills in mind.

How ever only listed place you can find snow is Manali; at Rohtang - 52 Kms from main Manali town.

Agree Gangtok is awesome, has paths for pedestrians and the traffic is also well managed.
Loved the MG road walking plaza, but the other market which is indoors was to dirty and stinky. (was a good market though for locals)
Bike rides - Kashmir to Leh and Sikkim, Jungle safaris - Corbett,Chikhaldara, Kanha and Gorumara. Traveled through MP, Himachal, J&K, Maharashtra, W.Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Goa, Karnataka, AP . . . Yet feel so New to traveling in India.

I am unable to recollect the name of the market but I climbed down from MG road to reach a huge roof top and then climbed down inside a huge indoor market.

Hey Guys... Thanks for the replies.. I heard it will rain in Sikkim during the month of May. The only option that seems to be best for us is Manali(Hopefully we can get some snow in Rohtung pass!!). But as the snow is not really a certainty I was thinking may be I should think of Andaman Nicobar/Lakshwadeep instead of Maldives??? Your suggestions? Aren't the 2 locations just the same genre as Maldives and I can get the same experience??

What I got from your OP is that you seek a cold place.
Any beach is going to be humid and warm whatever time of the year you go. People might debate this but for me its all the same in India.

Manali would mean long road travel but then it is worth it if you have enough time in hand.

If you can give snow a miss by going to a beach you can also give it a miss by going to manali or gangtok.

So your fiancee also does not care if both of you go to a beach for honeymoon.
Beach - Mountains - all the same - Nice wife

Unromantic ME - Someone who refers with the avatar name to a steller constellation can t be unromantic

Maybe Iĺl sound damn western but me as a really choosey person Iwould be really upset if my husband to be would have such a range of selection of destinations. Actually I would estimate that he asks me where I want to go and in the end I would decide

And: we still don know if it is a arranged marriage or not. Acutally nobody of my indian friends who had a arranged marriage was talking about how romantic things were but that they were really nervous and also tensed about how both of them will understand each other.

And for this reason I think: Itś really essential where they go for holiday - not a boring place, nice and beautifull guesthouse/hotel, nice environment, some funny activities and maybe then things will get romantic

I know it can be tough to decide on a destination for THE honeymoon.
But you will need to identify atleast on vertain aspects like mountains, snow, sea, jungle etc. Then you can identify options and work them out as per budget and available days.

One can have 2 different places in mind like you have maybe snow and beach but then the opinions you get would vary from person to person. For example I personally do not prefer beaches but love jungles and mountains. So my advice would always be skewed if I compare a beach and a hill for a honeymoon destination.
