| Member | Life in McLeod Hi, I'm new to the site, but not to India, been coming here for close on 30 years now but in 2006 decided to quit the business and retire early to this rather unique place in the Himalayas. Home to H.H Dalai Lama and 100,000 Tibetans. have a cool apartment with a view of the Himalayas and Kangra valley. Started Yoga recently, I think it actually stands for You Only Get Achy, cus after every session I ache like mad. Its a cool place to live if you dont mind the water shortages, power cuts and psychotic monkeys, apart from that its great. I write, play and record music, do some occasional consultancy at the Tibetan hospital and when in the UK (which aint that often) I do a little workshop stuff. The main reason I'm here is to study Buddhist philosophy, I describe myself as a not very good Buddhist, not in the slightest bit fanatical and trust me I get to see a few "Wakko's" here, but there you go, compassion to all beings, etc. Done a few retreats and try to practice meditation, with the emphasis on the word "try". But having His Holiness Dalai Lama virtually next door is kinda cool. Plan to buy a Royal Enfield later in the year and go ride-about to Ladakh. I went there with my fiancee in 2007 trekking in Kashmir, Zanskar and Ladakh for 21 days, the toughest think I ever did, which prompted me to write a book about it, thats another story.... thats it for now, more later...... |
