Jackson Palak says hi.
Namaste
I am a new member on IndiaMike. I am flying to India 15 Oct 2004. My 4th visit. Last time was in 2001, which was a short vacation in Palolem. In 1993 and 1994 I did two extensive tours, the highlight of the first being the one week drive from Srinagar to Leh with private chauffeur (Nari, twice the man I'll ever be), stopping every night in the smallest villages, not one tourist in view, though that road is suicidal at best on some stretches! and the highlight of the second a chance meeting with a friend from back home on Om Beach! This time I have 2 months, and will concentrate on Varanasi-Madhya Pradesh-(South)Goa. Although it's 5 long weeks until 15 Oct, my mind is already overseas, one with the cows. My favourite places in India so far are: Udaipur and Jaisalmer, Srinagar and Leh, Varanasi and Rishikesh, Hampi and Gokarna. My favourite meal, when available, is fish curry, if not, bring on the thalis! While in Madras back when, I went to a concert by a Belgian band called Aka Moon. Do yourself (and the band) a favour and check them out, especially Akasha vol.1&2 They are a jazz trio and these two albums were recorded with Indian musicians. You have never heard anything quite like it! While I'm at it: You might want to check out the movie "Nocturne Indien". It's French and it's Fabulous. I have a friend who went to India a few years ago, she flew to Delhi, went to Jaipur, back to Delhi, took the first plane and was back home after only 6 days! She said she had to get out or go nuts. It takes all kinds. I have to go back or go nuts. I wish us all wonderful journeys!! ---> I am looking for Justine Corey from London so if anybody knows her, or if ur out there Justine, please contact me. sergefreifeld@hotmail.com |
