Hi Samantha,

I can't speak to your budgetary concerns but as far as "finding yourself" and recuperating emotionally, there may be no better place on earth than India. Not the least because you will come away appreciating your life, the health you do have, and your decision to strike out on your own. As for safety, while there are many countries that a single women should avoid, I don't think India is one of them. Women are seen everywhere working and living side by side with men and are integral to life there (as most places). It's the countries where women are restricted and hidden away that are potentially unsafe for single women.
Frankly, I find India to be hardest on couples, especially those already struggling with their relationship. But alone you can relate to everything around you directly, with only your own needs, likes, and emotions to contend with.

Hello Samantha!

I see you have a thread here.

I think people should move over there to discuss your future plans. Time to leave old threads behind !

I want to tell a little bit about myself and also I'd love to get your opinion on something or maybe just an advice... I really hope you can help me, because I just can't make a right decision

I've always wanted to go to India and I was going to do it with my boyfriend. But we broke up a short while ago and now the only way for me to go there is to go on my own. I'm so depressed at the moment, because I lost him, also I've no idea what I want to do with my life. Running away seems to be a right thing to do. But I'm afraid that it won't work out for me and I'll end up even more confused.

I'd love to go to India for about 3 months, take yoga classes, go for massages. I think it would be good for me, because I have lots of problem with my back, feet and my mental health. But I can only afford spending about 2000 euros over there. Hopefully that will be enough, even though I'm not sure.

So do you think India is a place where you can calm down, forget your problems, think about yourlife and figure out what you want to do? I'm asking this because many people say that they wouldn't go there on their own, especially if they were a young female like me. So I'm really confused now...
I was thinking about going to Kerala in November or December this year, but I'm not sure about this yet. I just don't know what to do All I know is that I want to get away from here and change my life completely.
HI SAMANTHA,

I AM AN INDIAN AND I AM BASED IN MUMBAI,( BOMBAY ) I WOULD REQUEST YOU THAT SUCH TIME COMES IN EVERYONE'S LIFE. ITS ALL PART OF LIFE. TIME IS THE ONLY MEDICINE TO CURE SUCH THINGS. IN SPITE OF ALL, DONT COME TO INDIA AS RUN AWAY. DONT BE DESPERATE. THINK, PLAN AND VISIT INDIA. ITS A NICE PLACE WITH GREAT CULTURAL HERITAGE. BUT WESERNISATION HAS ALSO AFFECTED INDIA BADLY. SO, ITS UPON THE PERSON WHAT HE OR SHE WANTS TO DO AND ACHIEVE IN LIFE. SO YOU SHOULD GO AND VISIT SUCH PLACE WHICH INTEREST YOU. LIKE FOR YOGA AND MASSAGE, YOU WANT PEACE OF MIND......FOR THAT YOU SHOULD VISIT PLACE WITH RELIGIOUS BACK GROUND. LIKE IN KERALA AND MANGLORE, GUJARAT ETC. BE AWAY FROM BIG COSMOPOLITAN CITY LIKE GOA AND MUMBAI.THOUGH ITS NICE PLACE TO VISIT. BUT TO VISIT SUCH PLACES YOU NEED GOOD AMOUNT OF CONFIDENCE. AND YOU SHOULD NOT COME IN CONTACTS WITH OTHER SUCH PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT OF YOUR INTEREST.
WELL, IN SHORT, ITS HUMAN LIFE WHICH WE HAVE GOT SO WE SHOULD DEVOTE OUR TIME TO SERVE OUR ALMIGHTY GOD. THROUGH POOR AND NEEDY PEOPLE. I THINK YOU WILL BETTER UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU COME TO INDIA.
WELCOME AND ALL THE BEST AND WISH YOU HAPPY JOURNEY IN INDIA.

india is no place to escape yourself, it is a place to find there is nowhere to hide

India is in your face 24/7 and if you are not feeling like yourself happpy and balanced self this may be too much.Even Himachal Pradesh is taxing if only b/c of the mountain bus rides not the amazing scenery , hearty simple food and warm people.
I went for the 4th time this year and 7 weeks was about enough, but next time i will go for
8 weeks ;-)
