Hello,

I decided to take the plunge and ditch corporate life for at least a year to climb/travel. I'm in the process of planning a 6+ month trip to S & SE Asia, starting off with a self-supported 3 week Enfield tour of NE India in Oct/Nov 2008. Work sent me to India in Nov/Dec for 1.5 weeks (Bangalore & Mumbai) and I saw enough to know that I need to go back. Would welcome any recommendations for off-the-beaten path stuff. I admit that I have somewhat twisted/morbid sightseeing interests.

Welcome to IM Varla - and you've come to the right place as there a more than a few of us who have a morbid and twisted sense of humour! Good on you as well for taking time out from the corporate life to go and do something else - that's what I'm doing (I decided the only way to see enough of this place was to live here for a while - and that was after 3 previous visits several years ago).

You'll find plenty of information on the site, and for anything else just ask.

welcome ! i for one am very curious to know what "twisted/morbid" means.....!

Think you managed to do something which all of us hope for but cant i.e ditching corporate life... here if you take off most people would prob say " useless"

Thanks all for the warm welcome. To put twisted/morbid in context my favorite museum of all time is La Specola in Firenze, Italy, specifically the amazing wax anatomical model collection. Here's one of my photos from the trip:

Correct, I'm mostly an alpine rock climber but I also do some trad, sport & bouldering in between trips. Per locations, the High Sierra mostly (I'm moving to Bishop), plus maybe a road trip or two to hit the Sangre de Cristos, the Wasatch Front, and Red Rocks.
