Im here and I love it
I got here on Saturday night and while I have had my moments, I am loving it, I think it helped not staying in Pahar ganj, I was staying in Master guest house which is great and they are so nice and helpful there, a good introduction into the place not the frantic place that Pahar ganj is, went there yesterday and came out a tad frazzled, am staying there tonight though. The noise is getting to me a little and they start so early and I couldn't find my ear plugs, obviously I put them in an easy to find place, NOT. I missed my train to Jaisalmer, had my watch set wrong, have to try and get one tomorrow or have a change of plan. It had a good side to it though, got a cycle rickshaw and it was awesome, got into a terrible traffic jam but it was brilliant, no agression no nothing, think it helped that it was Old Delhi and there aren't any cars or auto rickshaws.
Anyway having a brilliant time so far ![]() |

Glad you're glad to be in India - yes, the noise does take a little bit of getting used to doesn't it!!! Have a great time - and don't worry about missing the odd train or bus, it might be a blessing in disguise in meeting someone or seeing something that may not have been, if you'd got on the transport at the correct time!![]() |

A blessing in disguise
Thanks, I think you are right, I wasn't ready to leave and thought I had put too much pressure on myself with a 20 hr train trip and was thinking of changing my plans this morning but decided against, I've just checked availability, I'm not going to get to Jaisalmer but I will get to Jodphur a little earlier than expected, I've had a brilliant day with someone I met up with through TT and I wouldn't have had such a good day by myself I know that, I wouldn't have had such a lovely rickshaw driver (taking me to Pahar ganj after missing my train) and gotten stuck in a massive delhi traffic jam so it worked out brilliantly

There are blessing all around us . . . inside of us . . . I missed the first, last and only train one night from Puri to Bhubaneshwar (and this after being 'stuck' in Puri for two weeks due to a general strike) . . . the alternative was simple - find a pedal-rickshaw driver ballsy enough to pedal me 40 km through to the night-jungle of Orissa . . . I did. Turned out I didn't 'miss' the train, i got a rickshaw. Have a great trip. Scott

Well I've got a train to Jodphur tonight, thank goodness, although another day in Delhi wouldn't have hurt. It was nice and easy to get as well, one of the guys getting tickets had it even easier, he had headphones and the railway guy was sitting there listening to it, it was so funny, they sat for about 10 minutes not saying a word to each other but his ticket purchase was dead easy when they did talk.
Went to the lotus temple today, it was really cool, friend and I got a comment from an indian guy saying indian dress was good. Glad I listened to the advice, there are some nice SKs out there. Had the best rickshaw driver on the way back, had a great laugh with him and got to see more of Delhi, yet another good day. Oh well, better go don't want miss yet another train, I think I am ready for it now, it's only 12 hrs |

Meant to also say thanks for the comments. Couldn't go back and edit for some reason.
