Hi everyone
Hello everyone.
I have been a regular to this forum for an year now. So I though it will be good if I create an ID and start sharing my experiences and knowledge too in this forum. I am Anurag. My hometown is Varanasi, a holy place. The place is a huge attraction for many tourists mainly because of temples, as Varanasi is also known as city of temples, and partly because of its culture, Silk Sarees, Paan, Ganges and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of lord Shiva, Vishwanath Temple. Varanasi is also known as Banaras or Kashi and people say that it is the most ancient living city of the world which has never been destroyed by any kind of invaders/natural calamities etc. It has been 5 years since I left Varanasi. I have been in college in Mumbai/Bombay for 4 years and now since 2008 I am in Chennai (in job). Apart from these places as my father has a transferable job, I have lived in Delhi, Kolkata/Calcutta, Sirsa (Haryana) and Bhubaneshwar. I am totally passionate about three things in my life ... one being traveling (always on Bikes) .... other two are related .. Football and Real Madrid .... So as far as traveling is concerned .. I have done many places ... Most recent ones are Leh-Ladakh (obviously on Bike in July 09), Goa, Jammu, Srinagar and Gulmarg then a lot places in South India like Pondichery, Yelagiri Hills, Yercaud, Munnar, Kodaicanal, Ooty and Hogenakkal Falls .... Old one are like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kathmandu(Nepal), Himanchal (Kullu, Manali, Manikaran etc.), Punjab & Haryana (Amritsar, Chandigarh etc), most of UP (being my home state), complete Rajasthan, Gujrat (Ahmadabad, Okha, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Gandhinagar etc), Maharashtra (have stayed 4 years in Mumbai so a lot of treks and other places here too), Uttarkhand (Haridwar, Deharadun, Masoorie etc), West Bengal (was in Kolkata .. so a lot of places here too), Orissa, and then a lot of places in South India (Madurai, Kanyakumari, Rameshwaram, Dhanushkoti etc) ..... Future destinations I had a dilemma in planning my December vacations. Many places came to my mind but the final 3 options that I was left with were trek to Everest Base Camp, Trip to Spiti Valley (only option in North India where I can go on Bike to sub zero temparatures) and a trip to North East (Tawang, Bum La, Guwahati, Shillong, Kaziranga and Cherapunji) ..... I think it has been to much of an introduction from my side ... Nice to be an IndiaMiker (officially as I have been one for more than a year now :P) .... Would really love to meet people to travel with and to discuss future destinations ... Anurag ![]() |

Hi Anurag,
Your intro is awesum. I admire your spirit of adventure and achievements. I do also suffer from wanderlust like you. Though not like you on a bike, but I covered Arunachal(Bomdialla-Tawang), Shillong-Cherrapunjee-Jayantia Hills, South Sikkim(Borong-Rinchenpong-Namchi), East Sikkim(Gangtok-Tsomgo-Rumtek etc),Nepal(Kathmandu-Pokhra- Everest Express),Ranchi-Netarhat, Chilka, Short trips from Kolkata(Duarsini, Puri, Digha, Bakkhali, Bishnupur, Murshidabad, Shantiniketan, Garpanchkot etc), Agra, Rajgir-Bodhgaya-Kakolat Falls, Varanasi, Allhabad, Lucknow in past two years.Upcoming trip is Kodaikanal. No plans of Andamans is on card. It was a fun buddy. Nicobar Islands is out of bounds of civilians, thats why I mentioned that as fun. Anyways, if it becomes accesible,then also you need a entire ship or flight to hire. |

@footballfreak
One correction, I havent done EBC Trek yet though it is in wishlist. I flew in Mountain Flight that is operated from Kathmandu by Budhha Air for close arial view of Mt. Everest & many other big ones. |
