Thumbs up Heylo!

Hi everyone!

This is Uday here and this is my first post in this forum. I am a TV producer, I produce/line produce documentaries, reality shows for Discovery, NBC, MTV, NatGeo, BBC etc!

Based in Mumbai but mostly on the road throughout the year. Last year it was around 50 cities/towns and 4 countries and this year, it's almost 60 cities/towns and 3 countries till now! I mostly travel to the US/Africa and almost everywhere in India!

My packing time for International travel is 60 minutes and for a domestic trip, around 15 minutes! Would be great to exchange ideas/experiences with fellow travelers here!

P.S: I'm named after a North Indian City, Udaipur (Big story behind it) even though I am from South India. ;-)

Thanks for the warm welcome people! I definitely will share some great incidents, from when I was kidnapped by the Naxalites, the jungle trek deep into the Nilambur forest to meet a "Lost" tribe and running away from a wild tusker, the Mumbai terror attacks which I covered for NBC and much more.

But one thing I notice here is the "ghettoization" of westerners and read a few posts where they basically say that almost all Indian men are scamsters or out to "pick" white women!!

I do know that Indian men, for that matter almost every man checks out a female in every part of the world, it's the small town Indian man's curiosity of never having seen a white woman so close which visitor's misinterpret as rude. Anyway, the first impression I got from reading some posts are, "Oh we are here to gain spirituality, see the vivid colors that India is made up of but hate the locals!". Don't they know it's the locals who give the wonderful color to this country?

I just read a post by a woman who says she is getting panic attacks here in India and has some serious problem with so many people around her and is nearly getting a heart attack traveling in a train, worried that Indian men will rape her with!

Hello!! Crowds? 1 Billion people! India!! I am sure no one expects an empty India before coming here?

Welcome to the site, MadinIndia, but don't be so quick to judge IndiaMike. You have only just arrived.

Hello, Uday! You have made me curious about the lost tribe in Nilambur. I knew about the hunter-gatherer tribe there, the Chola Naickans, but they are hardly lost you know.

I know about a lost individual of Nilambur. That's me, I rarely go there (once or twice in 5 years?) despite having grown up there.

So I am all ears for your stories!
