I thought I had my trip sorted what with my round the world flight booked and my 2 month stint in Nepal in April and May but there's always more to organise! I'm on my Gap year and am travelling round nepal, thailand, bali, sydney and new zealand, up for lots of adventure. I have lots of questions for you all: 1. What is the cheapest flight between Delhi and Kathmandu? 2. Is 3 weeks enough time to get a visa because i'm off to switzerland on dec 9th and need my passport back! but need to do it before i go. 3. I want to overland it from Kathmandu to Delhi in about a week, on the cheap- suggestions? Help! luv Georgie ![]()

Quick reply! 1 Not sure. Hopefully someone else will come up with this info! 2. You should be able to get your visa same day from the Indian High Commission in London. Be there at opening time with all the neccessary bits and pieces. Look up the Indian High commission website for what is needed - you can also download application forms. 3. You should be able to make it to Delhi in about 2 days overland - 3 at the most. Take bus from Kathmandu to the border at Sonauli. Stay overnight, or possibly if all goes well, you can make it through the Nepalese border to Gorakhpur same day. If not, take shared taxi or bus to Gorakhpur next morning and then train to Delhi - 3rd class sleeper if you want to do it as cheaply as possible. Contact our expert, steven_ber, for train times!

more ???s! Yeh that was super speedy! Have you done the journey between kathmandu and delhi? I have about 5 days so if I was to stop to take in any sights on the way, what would you suggest? Do I need to pre book buses and trains or do they run pretty regularly? ???????????!! Thanks, this is really helpful.

I just spotted a problem here with the Indian visa. If you get a 6 month tourist multiple entry visa for India too early, it's going to have expired by the time you want to re-enter India. Indian visas start on the day of issue - not the date of entry into India. You say you will be in Nepal for April and May so you would be coming back into India in early June with a possibly expired Indian visa! You're going to go to Switzerland on the 9th Dec so if you get it a few days before, it will expire around the 7th of June. Does this give you enough time?
