Hello, delurking here...

Hi everyone, I joined a while ago but even before that I read what seemed like bazillions of posts for research before my trip to India in November of last year. Took me a while, but I finally joined up.

I'm in Seattle, Washington (USA) and had a fabulous time on my trip last year, in large part due to the information here! I'm going back this February, hopefully for a month-- maybe even 5 weeks if I can. Last year my route was Delhi-- Srinagar & mountains (yes, I was a victim of the taxi-cab/Kashmir tour "scam"... I even knew what it was at the time, but did it anyway and it turned out fantastic, so, c'est la vie I guess)-- Agra-- Varanasi-- Darjeeling-- Gangtok-- Kolkata. I loved each place (yes, really!), but most especially Darjeeling and Sikkim.

For this trip I'm having a bit of a difficult time deciding on where to go. I know for sure I'd like to see Ranakpur, Ajanta, Ellora, Hampi and Kerala; but part of me wants to see Delhi again because I thought it was such a fascinating place and I didn't get to spend enough time there, and wow, Khajuraho... and also the rest of Rajasthan beckons... gah. Too many decisions. I had thought about flying into Mumbai, but would I be backtracking to get to Ranakpur from there? I'm a big fan of flying into one city and out of another, so I had thought that my return flight (I'll probably be flying British Air) would be out of Chennai or Bangalore, or maybe Mumbai if I fly into Delhi first... I dunno.

Anyway, thank you guys for providing so much fabulous information about India. I'm looking forward to hanging out and perhaps even (gasp) contributing something at some point.

Hi,
I was in Seattle a couple of days ago. Great city. Now back at homebase and like you preparing for my trip to India on Jan 08. I'm also a new kid on the block, and found this site to be amazingingly useful both in words and pictures.
Get your backpack on brother, bid farewell to Bill Gates..join the gang, and let the adventure begin.
