HeeY all, Im a Birdie Or u Can call me FreeBirD

Hello all wonderful people out here, Im 23 exploring indian mountains and northern india on my small motorbike.

Places that already been covered by me include Delhi - Manali - Leh - Khardung & back in yr'04.

Spiti region of himachal. in yr '04.

Basically covered all the major places in Himachal Pradesh in year 2004.

Some of my logs can be seen here at
www.geocities.com/livin_like_bird

Photos at http://photos.yahoo.com/livin_like_bird

http://spaces.msn.com/members/birdofprey

Moreover im a lone ranger and not in search of partner unless its a female willing to travel along to places that i particular visit which include no hotels to live in and no roads to be driven on precisely.

This addiction of mine is an old one started when i was 16 and now want to take it to the true respect of sheer proffession if it works.

My favorite take in life is "Take it as it comes"
FreeBirD

p.s : Thanks to Hippie at heart who brought me to this wonderful addiction which is way better then any other forums i have been wasting my time on.
Truly an appreciation.

Hi Birdie, welcome to Indiamike!

Nice pictures -- I'd like to get up that way touring one day. I did 'nurse' a Bullet around HP some years ago, but haven't been over the passes yet; maybe some day. Mostly I've only been coming to India in the wintertime (Canadian winters ) and the western ghats more my speed. At home here, I keep my old BMW ready to roll, but haven't done a good road trip in a few years. I'm a solo tourer as well, and I'm finding some things get a bit more of a challenge in my 60's. Really enjoy reading about great rides though, and who knows.....

@ m2 : Truly appreciate, your effort to bring us all travellers at a platform to interact with all the wonderful people out here.
I would say the best is yet to be explored as the region i go to can never be exploited by human intereference. Nature is ancient and wont let humans mess its serenity.
As far as that BMW goes which is the one you have got!
I am very anxious to drive Fundro or 650FS on these kind of terrains for which this BMW was basically build ...True off roading.

@ nick-h : thanks

I'd take the Kawi 650 dual sport over the BMW anyday. But then, I have a Kawi Vulcan cruiser anyway, so I'm partial

ermmm, Lovemax looks like you are in good company here, we all look forward to your journys in unknown. BTW Funduro is single cylinder F650, GS and strada are two diff models, F650 can prolly clip along at 100 KMPH all day long but after she get to top end, which may take considerable time and dies soon after 7500 RPM. You may want to refit high lift cam, stiffer springs to avoid valve floating, ok let me stop dreaming about Dakar and Panamik dunes and get back in here.

Oldies, but goodies

Hey Birdie,

Actually, it's the other Mike that pays the bills here and provides the venue for us to swap stories and such, but it is nice that there are a few of us here who appreciate how great a bike is for getting around and seeing the world.

I won't comment on the Kawi, bij, not sure they were even invented when BMWs started roaming the earth . My current one is the air-cooled boxer twin R65 and it is a couple of years older than you, Birdy, but I've only had it for 20 years. My first Beemer was a '71 model and it took me down to Central America on camping tours a few times back in the '70's (picture on left is from Baja California in '75) The second picture is of the '81 taken in monument valley. The picture on the right was taken in my front yard a couple of minutes ago to give a better idea of what the older R65s look like. As you can see, I probably should be mowing my lawn than spending time here, but talking bikes more interesting.

keep on truckin'

Hey Birdie,
isn't that Honda CBZ you ride? (No offense meant)
Last year I had a friend of mine who did world's 5 highest passes in 24 hours on TVS.
Look forward to hear from you about your past rides and future adventures.

@ m2- : Wonderful bike that you got,i mean it can kick ass most of the modern day bikes since beemers share a reputable history of being best bikes. Besides I must say that the one you are keeping is one of the best ones, ever seen. Moreover the best thing I would say is that it takes you to wonderful places on long rides with not much of any trouble.

@vinayverma : Sure, dude you caught me red handed, I own a Black CBZ!
& i surely have heard about your friend on a TVS who compeleted a 24 hours run, besides something similar is on the cards from my end as well. Juss waiting to see if I can ever get a hand on any of sponsor otherwise its gonna be personal journey beating my own self records. I have driven for long drives with covering 500kms in about 7hrs flat.

I can challenge who make the records given me the chance that I only get paid for fuel. Moreover, what I do is not break record otherwise I am already good to be in records, Check my newspaper article that made into news this year Jan'05

Heres da link : http://rifraf.hopto.org/modules/My_P...oads/index.php

For Pdf article : http://rifraf.hopto.org/modules/My_P...blue/mani1.pdf

Happy Reading

@XBHP.com : Just one the guy did 5 passes who got into limca book of records.
That was all under sponsorship. The TVS 24 hours endurance included most of the foreigners and just one of the guy was Indian who then decided to go over to Marismikla alone. But otherwise I sure can say, he is from hills since it was mentioned in the article itself!
How about one more such run, I beg to those to get me just moolah for petrol and see what we people here are here for!!
